This holiday season, the Wilmington IL Chamber of Commerce is encouraging residents to support local businesses as part of Small Business Season, which runs from November 1 through December 31. The campaign aims to highlight the importance of shopping locally and its impact on the community.
"Every Purchase Has a Purpose," this year’s theme, reflects the idea that buying from local stores supports jobs, strengthens the economy, and fosters community connections. The Chamber notes that spending at neighborhood businesses benefits not only business owners but also has a positive effect on schools, teams, and other community initiatives.
The Chamber urges people to discover unique gifts at local boutiques, craft fairs, and artisan markets. They also encourage dining at family-owned restaurants and promoting these experiences online by tagging favorite businesses and leaving positive reviews.
In a message to local business owners, the Chamber says: "Let us help share your story! We’re featuring local businesses all season long through spotlights and social posts."
The initiative seeks to remind residents that their purchases can make a difference for the entire community. "Shop local, dine local, love local," the Chamber concludes.
