Theresa C. O’Connor, Age 89, Remembered for Her Kindness and Faith

Wilmington, Illinois - Theresa C. O’Connor, aged 89, departed from her earthly existence and was cradled in the arms of God on Saturday, November 8, 2025, surrounded by her adoring family at Lightways Hospice in Joliet, Illinois.

Born on July 31, 1936, in Blue Island, Illinois, to Leo and Veronica (Haley) Keigher, Theresa spent her formative years in Joliet. A proud alumna of St. Francis Academy's Class of 1954, she commenced her working career at Caterpillar Tractor Company, later contributing at Argonne National Laboratory.

In June 14, 1958, Theresa united in marriage with Jerry O’Connor at St. Ray’s Cathedral, embarking on a journey of faith, love, and family at their Wilmington farm.

Theresa was a devoted mother to six, grandmother to 24, and great-grandmother to two, instilling love and care at the heart of her familial relationships. Her life was a tremendous tribute to family values and togetherness.

Treasured for her blessings of love and gratitude, Theresa embraced her Irish lineage with steadfast faith and was an active member of St. Rose Catholic Church in Wilmington.

Having devoted 67 years to their family farm, Theresa and Jerry cultivated a shared life brimming with happiness. Following Jerry's passing 21 years prior, Theresa continued to nurture the farm, adorning it with her flora and fauna.

A beacon of love, joy, and humor, Theresa embraced gatherings with kin, orchestrating annual Halloween celebrations and family reunions. Her abiding kindness, paired with her warm smile and selfless nature, endowed Theresa with an unwavering admiration from friends and family.

Theresa, a steadfast pillar of strength and compassion, epitomized faith, love, and resilience, leaving behind an indelible legacy.

Theresa is survived by her children: Marie (Daniel) O'Brien, Patrick (Anne) O’Connor, Thomas (Sarah) O’Connor, Michael (Debbie) O’Connor, Peggy (Kevin) Feeney, and Jim (Hannah) O'Connor; along with grandchildren, great-grandchildren, and a host of nieces and nephews.

The bereaved will gather to pay their respects at Krueger Funeral Home in Blue Island on Saturday, November 22nd, with a service to follow. Interment at First Lutheran Cemetery, Alsip, IL.

In lieu of floral tributes, memorial donations can be directed to Navarro Farm, Frankfort, IL—a cause dear to Theresa.

Theresa’s beautiful life and memory will remain etched forever in the hearts of those she loved and those who cherished her presence.
