Wilmington schools announce back-to-school dates and events for August

Wilmington School District has announced key dates and events as the new academic year approaches. The first day of student attendance is scheduled for Wednesday, August 20.

An Open House event will be held on August 18, providing students and families an opportunity to meet teachers, tour classrooms, and locate lockers. The schedule for the Open House is as follows: Bruning Elementary School from 4:00 p.m. to 5:00 p.m., Stevens Intermediate School from 4:30 p.m. to 5:30 p.m., Wilmington Middle School from 5:00 p.m. to 6:00 p.m., and Wilmington High School (Freshman Tour) from 5:30 p.m. to 6:30 p.m.

In addition, the district’s annual Purple & White Night will take place on Friday, August 22, beginning at 5:00 p.m. The evening includes a parent meeting at the stadium at 5:30 p.m., followed by individual team meetings. Athletic and coach introductions are set for 6:00 p.m. at Jeff Reents Football Stadium behind Wilmington Middle School, with football scrimmages starting at 6:30 p.m.

Attendees can purchase food at the concession stand and buy Wildcat spiritwear from the Athletic Boosters during Purple & White Night. Entertainment will be provided by the Wilmington High School Marching Band & Spiritline.
